Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made, and he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘you shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” The woman [replied] to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.'” The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! With that, a world-wide campaign of disinformation began. We live in a world contaminated by disinformation and deceit that originates from our rebellious past. Rebellion against God that is. Contemporary thought calls disinformation “harmful to our democracy”, a “geopolitical threat”, they label it as “toxic” and a “national security threat”. The contemporary solution to these matters is to eliminate God from the public square…bad choice!
Let’s briefly consider the opposing players. The “serpent” from our introductory paragraph is said to be a “liar and the father of lies” (John 8:44). He is said to “deceive nations” (Revelation 20:3). He veils God’s good news and blinds the minds of men to the truth of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4:4). In fact, “…the whole world lies in the power of the evil one”. Warning: this evil one is “…prowl[ing] around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour”. (1 Peter 5:8).
Jesus Christ on the other hand is “…the way, and the truth, and the life”. The Bible proclaims that “…God[s]…words are truth…” (2 Samuel 7:28). The Psalmist writes, “All the paths of the LORD are lovingkindness and truth (Psalms 25:10) In fact, “…God [is] merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and truth”. (Psalms 86:15). Yet, with this brief comparison of facts mankind prefers to “…exchanged the truth of God for a lie…” (Romans 1:25). Sad commentary!
Man is naturally tainted with a rebellious attitude toward God and the truth He represents. Man labels God’s truth as “disinformation”. It is NOT!
Genesis 8:21 “…the LORD said…the intent of man’s heart is evil from his youth…”
Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is more deceitful than all else and is desperately sick…”
Don’t be deceived by this campaign to ban God from the public in the name of “disinformation management” as the day will come when God will make things right. “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness…” (Romans 1:18).
“God…desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”
1 Timothy 2:3-4
There is no better time than the present to decide which side of the truth you are on.
“He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
